- What: This Multi Company Number Sequence (MCN) allows a number sequence in one company account (data area) to pull numbers from a sequence in another company account. In effect, multiple company accounts can share the same number sequence.
- When: You wish you could use the same number sequence to keep numbers consistent but unique across companies.
- Why: Consistent numbering across companies giving you a closer intercompany relationship in AX.
- Examples:
(1) You share items and item dimensions across companies and need to ensure that all companies are assigned the next inventDimId based on a global number sequence to avoid assigning an id that has already been used.
(2) You share the vendor table across companies and would like vendors to be numbered in one sequence regardless of which company they were created in.
(3) You have a customer account number format and even though you don’t share customers, you want to have each company follow the same number format but remain unique.
