- What: The Document Handling Relationships (DHR) tool allows you to set up custom hierarchical relationships based off a root table. When document handling is viewed from the root table, related table documents are shown also.
- When: You wish you didn’t have to drill all the way down to the data entry screen to view attachments. You wish you could see all the documents about a record at one time regardless of where they are physically attached.
- Why: Better visibility of source documentation which is especially important for analysis and sox compliance.
- Examples
(1) Relate Sales orders, order lines, invoices and invoice transactions to the root Customer table. When viewing a customer's documents, you would then also see any documents attached to any of their sales orders or invoices.
(2) On the GL transaction inquiry form, you want to view all attachments from the journal where the transaction originated without havng to drill down to the journal lines form.
(3) On a project you want to view all vendor invoice attachments without having to drill down to the invoice journal or purchase order.
(4) On a production order you want to view all attachments such as specifications or assembly instructions on the BOM item without having to drill down to the item to view them.
